Re: Negotiating Committee Update

Our negotiating committee convened the third meeting with the County on 7/24/07.

Your team has worked hard at the negotiations and we are starting to reach agreement on some contractual changes involving various topics. Some of the toughest issues remain open… raises and health insurance. At this last meeting, the County provided the CSEA team with what it termed a “financial package”. This is the County’s response to our various proposals that will have a financial impact upon the County. The CSEA Team finds the County’s financial package short and lacking fairness. We are currently scruitinizing “the CSEA and County” financial and health program proposals looking for possible resolutions. The atmosphere of the negotiations continues to be encouraging and we feel confident in our proposals. As soon as I and the team are convinced that we have reached a fair agreement, I will schedule information meetings. In the interim we will continue to express to the County team the concerns we heard in all of the departments as discussed individually or through the Union’s worksite visits conducted earlier this year.

I have scheduled a meeting of our team to continue to discuss and refine our positions for the upcoming meeting with the County scheduled for August 10, 2007. We will be prepared.
